President Donald Trump has issued a warning to Iran, giving it 48 hours to reach a deal or face severe military action. This warning comes as fighting intensifies across the Middle East and strikes are reported near a key nuclear facility.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said time was “running out” for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil shipments, or face what he described as “all Hell” breaking loose.

The threat came amid escalating attacks on both sides. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they struck a commercial ship in Bahrain and continued targeting economic assets in Gulf states it links to the US-Israeli war effort. In Iran’s southwest, a strike on a petrochemical site killed at least five people, according to local officials.

According to AFP, a strike near the Bushehr nuclear power plant on Saturday triggered evacuations and coincided with ongoing efforts by US forces to locate a missing airman after recent aerial clashes.

Tehran rejected the ultimatum outright. Iranian commander General Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi described Trump’s warning as “nervous” and “unbalanced,” and warned of retaliation if attacks continue.

Fighting in the air has added to tensions. Iranian authorities said they shot down US aircraft, with one crew member rescued and another still missing. Local officials said search efforts were ongoing, involving both military units and civilians. Footage circulating online showed Iranian forces firing at a US helicopter during the operation.

Concerns also grew over nuclear safety. A strike near the Bushehr facility killed a security guard, while Russia  which has helped build and operate the plant began evacuating personnel. Iran warned that repeated attacks on the site could risk radioactive fallout affecting nearby Gulf countries.

The conflict, now more than a month old, began with US-Israeli strikes on Iran and has since spread across the region, disrupting shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and adding pressure to global energy markets.

With both sides exchanging threats and no sign of de-escalation, the next 48 hours could prove critical in determining whether the conflict widens further.
