Myanmar military aircraft bombed a resistance base along the Salween River opposite Thailand on Saturday evening, shattering windows and damaging buildings in a Thai border village.
Two bombs struck the Saw Lae Tha base, opposite Mae Sam Laep pier in Mae Sariang district of Mae Hong Son province, at around 7pm on October 31, sending flames and smoke across the river.
The explosions were powerful enough to shatter windows in nearby Thai buildings, forcing local residents and officials to flee for safety. The attack occurred while Mae Sam Laep Subdistrict Administrative Organisation chief Phongpipat Meebenjamas and other officials were overseeing construction of a riverside viewpoint.

According to MGR Online, an initial inspection found damage at three locations: the Mae Sam Laep Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, the local administrative organisation's Salawin Conference Building and a village church. Several window and door panes were broken, while parts of the ceilings at the hospital and church collapsed.
Phongpipat said authorities were moving residents living along the riverbank and other vulnerable areas to safer locations. Thai soldiers had warned of possible airstrikes shortly before the incident and urged local officials to alert villagers.
Local security personnel and administrative officials inspected the affected areas after the bombing. Authorities were also assessing possible damage to boats moored near the pier, with further inspections of nearby facilities, including the local school, planned for Sunday.
