Fresh violence has erupted in Manipur after two Meitei children were killed in a suspected militant attack in Bishnupur district on April 7. The blast seriously injured their mother.
Meitei groups blamed Kuki-Zo militants and staged protests that turned violent. Security forces, including the Central Reserve Police Force, opened fire after protesters allegedly tried to storm a camp, leaving at least three people dead and 25 injured.
Authorities imposed a curfew and internet shutdown in parts of the Imphal Valley. According to UCA News, local leaders say the incident highlights the fragile peace in the state following prolonged ethnic conflict between Meitei and tribal groups.
