Japan issued significant tsunami warnings on Monday following a series of powerful earthquakes in western regions. The Japan Meteorological Agency reported a quake in Ishikawa and nearby prefectures, with one registering a preliminary magnitude of 7.4.

NHK TV, the Japanese public broadcaster, cautioned that waves reaching up to 5 meters (16.5 feet) could occur and advised people to swiftly move to higher ground or the top of nearby buildings.

As of now, there is no immediate information on the extent of damage. Hokuriku Electric Power stated that it is currently examining its nuclear power plants for any abnormalities, according to NHK.
