Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has urged the international community to take decisive action against racial injustice, emphasizing the ongoing plight of the Rohingya people, who continue to face discrimination and statelessness.

In a statement marking the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on Friday, Dr. Yunus highlighted Bangladesh’s role in sheltering over a million forcibly displaced Rohingyas since 2017. He reiterated that their safe and dignified repatriation to Myanmar remains the only sustainable solution to the crisis.

"The global community must engage actively to ensure their early repatriation to their homeland in Myanmar," Dr. Yunus stated.

Bangladesh reaffirmed its firm commitment to fighting racism, xenophobia, and all forms of intolerance, pledging continued efforts in promoting equality.

This year also marks the 60th anniversary of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD). As a signatory to the convention, Bangladesh upholds non-discrimination as a fundamental principle of governance and society, Dr. Yunus added.
