US President Donald Trump has extended invitations to several countries, including Australia, Vietnam and Thailand, to join a newly formed international “Board of Peace” aimed at ending the war in Gaza and overseeing post-conflict reconstruction, according to press reports and official statements.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed on Monday that Canberra had received a formal invitation from Trump. Speaking in a radio interview with ABC Sydney, Albanese said the correspondence arrived late Sunday and would be reviewed through Australia’s established decision-making processes. “We’ll consider all of these approaches respectfully and through our proper processes,” he said.

Thailand also acknowledged receiving a similar request. In a statement, the Thai Foreign Ministry said Bangkok is reviewing the details of Trump’s proposal, which is linked to the US president’s broader “Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict,” according to an AA report.

Vietnam, meanwhile, has taken a more definitive position. The country’s Communist Party General Secretary To Lam accepted Trump’s invitation and affirmed Vietnam’s readiness to participate as a founding member of what Hanoi described as the Gaza Peace Council, the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.

Trump has also reached out to South Asian leaders. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has received an invitation to join the board, while US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor said on social media platform X that he had conveyed Trump’s invitation to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. There was no immediate official response from New Delhi.

The White House announced on Friday that the Board of Peace for Gaza will play a central role in implementing 20 points of Trump’s plan to permanently end Israel’s war on Gaza, rebuild the territory, and guide its transition from conflict to peace and development. The board is expected to provide strategic oversight, mobilize international resources and ensure accountability during the transition.

In parallel, the US administration has established a National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, alongside an Executive Board and a Gaza Executive Board, to support the plan’s second phase and its transitional framework.

Trump has indicated that further invitations will follow, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan among additional leaders asked to join the international body.
