The Thai government has announced the introduction of e-visa facilities for Bangladeshi passport holders planning to travel to Thailand, according to reports from UNB. This service is expected to be available from early next year.

Ambassador Worawoot Pongprapant, the Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs in Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, shared the details during a recent meeting with a Bangladeshi delegation, led by the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand.

Once the e-visa system is implemented, Bangladeshi travelers will have the convenience of applying for a Thai visa online from their home country, as confirmed by the Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok. This service has already been rolled out in 69 Thai embassies worldwide.

In addition, Ambassador Pongprapant announced that a visa waiver for official passport holders from both countries will take effect on December 19, 2024. This agreement was signed in Bangkok in April 2024.

For Bangladeshi passport holders seeking long-term medical treatment in Thailand, the Ambassador advised them to apply for a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV).
