Qatar Charity (QC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) have entered into a new cooperation framework to enhance humanitarian support for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.

The two organizations signed a Letter of Understanding (LoU) along with a Data Sharing Addendum to expand collaboration in key humanitarian sectors, including shelter, camp management, and the distribution of essential relief materials for the most vulnerable groups living in Cox’s Bazar.

The agreement was formalized by Ivo Freijsen, UNHCR Representative in Bangladesh, and Zakarya Al Motair, Country Director of QC’s Bangladesh office. The signing marks an important step toward deepening joint efforts to address the pressing needs of refugees in one of the world’s most overcrowded camps.

According to Qatar News Agency, the LoU aims to improve coordination between QC and UNHCR to ensure efficient use of limited resources and better delivery of life-saving assistance to those most in need

Speaking at the event, Ivo Freijsen highlighted that the year 2026 is expected to bring significant funding challenges for humanitarian operations, underscoring the vital role of partnerships like this one. He emphasized that stronger collaboration will help both sides prioritize urgent needs and sustain critical support for displaced communities

Zakarya Al Motair reaffirmed QC’s commitment to humanitarian work in Bangladesh, noting that the agreement opens new avenues for cooperation with UNHCR. He stressed that the partnership reflects QC’s belief in the power of collective action to tackle the complex and prolonged Rohingya crisis.
