On January 24, 2025, intense clashes broke out in the northern part of Buthidaung Township, located in Myanmar’s Rakhine State. The conflict erupted between the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and the Arakan Army (AA), a Rakhine Buddhist insurgent group, around 2:30 PM near Delpara (Narin Chaung Village) in Ward 15. The fighting lasted for over two hours and ended around 5:00 PM.

According to reports from ARSA representatives, their forces launched a targeted attack on AA members using a variety of munitions. A senior ARSA commander claimed that during the skirmish, 14 AA insurgents were killed and 17 others were critically injured.

In a statement, ARSA issued a stern warning to Rakhine civilians and ethnic communities allegedly aiding the AA rebels with supplies and shelter, threatening consequences for their continued support. The group emphasized its determination to protect its community and uphold its mission.

An ARSA spokesperson urged the Rohingya community to pray for their success and expressed their steadfast commitment to the ongoing struggle. The group also called on media outlets, including the Arakan Press Network, to accurately report on their efforts and the unfolding events in the region.

This development underscores the continuing tensions and violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine State, where ethnic and political divisions remain deeply entrenched.
