World leaders have extended congratulations to Bangladesh’s newly sworn-in Prime Minister Tarique Rahman following the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) victory in the 13th National elections, expressing optimism for stability, democratic progress and stronger bilateral ties.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his “warmest congratulations” and voiced hope to deepen cooperation between Dhaka and New Delhi across connectivity, trade, technology, energy and cultural exchanges. He also invited Rahman to visit India at a mutually convenient time.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang reaffirmed Beijing’s support for the new administration, highlighting longstanding ties and expressing readiness to expand high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative framework.

From Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari described Rahman’s premiership as the beginning of a “new chapter” in Bangladesh’s history and expressed hope for enhanced regional peace and progress. Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi also congratulated the new leader and pledged continued cooperation under the existing strategic partnership between Tokyo and Dhaka.

Leaders from the Middle East, including UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, sent congratulatory messages reaffirming strong bilateral relations. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Canberra looked forward to working with the new government to promote a stable and prosperous region.

According to BSS, congratulatory messages also came from leaders across South Asia and beyond, reflecting broad international engagement with Bangladesh’s new administration.

The wave of global goodwill signals Bangladesh’s continued strategic importance and the expectation among key partners that the new government will advance political stability, economic growth and regional cooperation.
