National Security Adviser (NSA) Dr Khalilur Rahman as the head of the Bangladesh delegation to attend the 7th NSA-level meeting of the Colombo Security Conclave, scheduled to be held on November 19 and 20 in New Delhi, India.

The decision came following an invitation from Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval to Dr Rahman to join the regional security forum, said the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing in a press release on Friday.

According to the release, the interim government attaches high importance to strengthening regional cooperation and has been actively engaged in various regional forums to promote collective security and development.

In April this year, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus was elected Chair of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), while efforts have also been underway to revitalize the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

Dr Khalilur Rahman earlier led the Bangladesh delegation to the China-Indian Ocean Region Forum held in Kunming, China. His participation in the Colombo Security Conclave in New Delhi reflects the interim government’s continued commitment to fostering constructive and mutually beneficial regional cooperation, the press release added.
