Bangladesh has strongly condemned the recent bombing of a hospital in Myanmar’s Rakhine State, expressing deep concern over the escalating violence and repeated violations of international humanitarian law in the conflict-hit region.

In a press release issued on Thursday (December 12), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Dhaka conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed in the attack and expressed sympathy for all who were injured or otherwise affected by the incident.

The government underscored the urgent need to ensure the protection of civilians and civilian facilities without any discrimination, stressing that hospitals and medical infrastructure must never be targeted under any circumstances. According to a BSS report, Bangladesh also reiterated that all communities living in Rakhine State including both the Rohingya and Rakhine populations should be spared from violence.

Dhaka further called on all parties involved to respect international humanitarian law and take immediate steps to prevent further harm to innocent civilians, warning that continued violence would only deepen the humanitarian crisis in Myanmar’s western region.
