The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a top leader of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), Ataullah Abu Ammar Jununi, along with nine other suspected members in separate raids in Narayanganj and Mymensingh.

RAB-11 conducted three separate drives on March 16-17 based on intelligence reports. Following the arrests, cases were filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act and for illegal entry at Siddhirganj Police Station in Narayanganj.

The arrested individuals are Ataullah (48), Mostaq Ahmed (66), Moniruzzaman (24), Salimullah (27), Asmaul Hosna (23), Md Hasan (15), Md Asmat Ullah (24), Md Hasan (43), Shahina (22), and Senowara (17).

They were produced before the Narayanganj court this afternoon, where the police sought a 20-day remand. After the hearing, Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Moinuddin Kadir granted a 10-day remand for six of the accused—five days in each case—confirmed State lawyer Khorshed Molla.

During the raids in Notun Bazar Garden City of Mymensingh Sadar and Bhumipalli of Siddhirganj, RAB-11 recovered Tk 21 lakh in cash, a knife, a thick steel chain, and four wristwatches from their possession. The detainees are accused of planning sabotage activities, authorities stated.
