A 200-strong Burmese military column has reportedly collapsed and dispersed in northern Arakan State following a devastating two-day battle with the Arakan Army (AA).

Local military sources report that the junta infantry unit, which had been conducting an offensive near Thaing Chaung and Chaung Wa villages since November 8, "disbanded and spread out" after suffering serious losses during a fierce AA counter-assault.

The engagement marks a significant escalation, with the junta deploying a combined-arms force of army, navy, and air force units. Witnesses describe intense combat, with the military utilizing jet fighters, drones, and constant shelling from naval vessels and artillery bases.

Despite this overwhelming firepower, the AA reportedly managed to break the Thaing Chaung frontline.

"The army column offensive... was suffering seriously," a local military source told Narinjara News. "Some soldiers retreated in disarray to Chaung Wa village and joined the army stationed there."

The Arakan Army, which sources say "controls the territory," appears to be employing hit-and-run tactics, engaging when favorable while attempting to evade the heavy aerial and artillery bombardments.

As of this report, the situation remains volatile, and the fighting has not subsided.

"The fighting is still going on today," an additional source stated. "The battle is so severe that we can hear the sound of cannon fire and bombs dropping."

The intense crossfire has reportedly impacted nearby civilian villages, which are sustaining damage from the indiscriminate shelling as the battle for control of the region rages on.
