Union Home Minister Amit Shah called on the people of Delhi to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming assembly elections, promising a decisive crackdown on illegal Rohingya and Bangladeshi immigrants in the national capital. Addressing a public meeting in the Tri Nagar assembly constituency on Saturday( January 25), Shah urged voters to back BJP candidate Tilak Ram Gupta, emphasizing the party’s commitment to addressing key issues plaguing the city.
"People of Delhi, entrust your faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and make Tilak Ram win. The BJP will work to ensure that all illegal Rohingyas and Bangladeshis are driven out of Delhi," Shah asserted during the rally.
He highlighted the Centre’s achievements under PM Modi’s leadership, including the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, and the curbing of terrorism and naxalism across the country.

Allegations Against AAP Government
The Home Minister launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing it of providing shelter to illegal immigrants. Shah claimed the AAP government has failed to act against the issue, alleging that its administration is complicit in protecting illegal Rohingyas.
Shah further criticized AAP leaders, accusing them of spreading misinformation about BJP policies. "All the liars have come together under one roof, and that roof is AAP. Their leaders keep making false claims," he said.

Promises of Welfare and Development

Amid allegations that BJP’s rise to power in Delhi would end welfare schemes, Shah assured voters that no poor-centric programs would be stopped. "It is the PM’s promise that every welfare scheme will continue. Even a single welfare initiative for the poor will not be discontinued," he said. Shah emphasized that BJP’s manifesto is a "guarantee from PM Modi," adding that all promises made will be fulfilled.

Call for Change in Leadership
Shah urged Delhiites to vote for a "double-engine government" with BJP in power at both the Centre and state levels, stating that such alignment would accelerate development and ensure better governance.
He also accused the AAP government of corruption and failing to deliver on its repeated promises. "The people of Delhi deserve a government that works, not one that makes empty assurances," he said.
The rally was held to bolster support for BJP’s Tri Nagar candidate, Tilak Ram Gupta, ahead of the polls. Shah’s remarks reflect BJP’s intensified efforts to wrest control of the Delhi assembly from the AAP, which has been in power since 2015.
As the election date approaches, the political battle between the BJP and AAP is expected to intensify, with issues such as governance, illegal immigration, and welfare programs taking center stage.
