OpenAI’s latest ChatGPT model has started pulling information from Elon Musk’s AI-created encyclopedia, Grokipedia, according to a report by The Guardian.
The Guardian’s investigation found that the GPT-5.2 version of ChatGPT referenced Grokipedia in several topics, including political and historical entries. Grokipedia, developed by Musk’s company xAI, is generated largely by artificial intelligence rather than human editors.
Experts warn that depending on such AI-written content could lead to inaccuracies and bias, as Grokipedia does not follow traditional fact-checking or editorial review processes.
OpenAI said ChatGPT gathers information from a wide range of public sources and applies filters to prevent unreliable data from influencing responses. Still, analysts say this development highlights growing concerns about how AI models decide what information is credible.
