The incident, which occurred in the Ghumdhum union of Bandarban's Naikhongchhari upazila, resulted in the loss of lives and injuries to civilians.

This distressing incident occurred around 2:30 pm when a mortar shell from Myanmar struck and exploded at the residence of Hosneara Khatun. Regrettably, the blast resulted in her demise. Additionally, her grandson, approximately five years old, suffered injuries during the incident while he was eating in the kitchen, as reported by Inspector Bhuiyan. The Rohingya man, identified as a hired laborer working on construction in the building, also lost his life in the explosion.

As tensions persist in the region due to the ongoing gun battle between Myanmar troops and the Arakan Army, the incident reveals the severe consequences faced by civilians caught in the crossfire. Bullets and mortar shells have been fired into Bangladesh over the last two days, heightening tensions. This tragic occurrence emphasizes the pressing need for peaceful resolutions and heightened humanitarian efforts in the Myanmar-Bangladesh border area, urging authorities to prioritize civilian safety to prevent further casualties.
